How Bison Moon Megaways Works

Bison Moon Megaways, developed by Northernlights, is played on 6 reels where each spin can display a variable number of symbols—up to 7 per reel when the Extra Reel is active. With each spin, there are up to 117,649 ways to win, giving ample opportunity for numerous symbol combinations. Players set their stake for each spin, with bets ranging from a minimum of £0.20 to a maximum of £4.00 per spin.

Wins are formed when matching symbols land in adjacent positions from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. Each way win is multiplied by the bet factor. Only the highest win is paid per symbol combination, and the total payout for a spin is the sum of all way wins landed. There is a win cap of 10,000x the bet; if this cap is reached, the feature or play ends, and only the capped amount is paid out for that spin.

Symbol Features

  • Wild Symbols: Wilds substitute for other symbols to complete winning combinations, except for Link&Win™, Scatter, Dynamite, and Special symbols. Wilds appear only on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5.
  • Scatter Symbols: Scatters cannot be replaced by Wilds and do not have a direct payout. These only appear in the base game and are not removed during the Rolling Reels™ feature.

The Extra Reel Mechanic

The Extra Reel sits above reels 2, 3, 4, and 5, adding an additional symbol to each of those reels for every spin. This increases your chances of landing winning combinations and triggers certain special features in the game.

Bonus Features and Special Mechanics

Rolling Reels™

Rolling Reels™ is triggered after any win in both the base game and Free Spins. When winning symbols form a combination, they are removed, letting new symbols cascade into place. This can result in multiple consecutive wins on a single spin. If Scatter symbols land, they remain on the reels during this feature. Rolling continues until no new winning combinations are present.

Bison Stampede Bonus

Randomly at the start of a spin in the base game, the Bison Stampede feature may activate, launching the Stampede Bonus Wheel. Spinning the wheel grants one of four modifiers:

  • MAX WAYS: All reels spin with 117,649 Megaways™.
  • BISON WILDS: One Low symbol is chosen at random and turned into Wilds across reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 for that spin.
  • NO LOWS: No Low symbols will appear on the current spin.
  • WILD REELS: The Extra Reel is entirely filled with Wild symbols.

Link&Win™ Feature

The Link&Win™ feature activates when 6 to 14 Link&Win™ symbols land. These symbols are held, and each reveals a cash value. The sequence begins with 3 respins, with only Link&Win™ and Special symbols or blanks able to land during this phase. Reels 1 and 6 remain locked until a Key Special symbol lands, unlocking reel 1, and subsequently reel 6 if the Key lands again. The number of respins resets to 3 whenever a new Link&Win™ symbol appears.

  • Red Link&Win™ symbols valued over 1.2x bet turn blue during this feature.
  • The Collect Special symbol gathers all values on that reel.
  • The Multiplier Special symbol multiplies the cash values on its reel by x2, x3, x5, or x10.
  • The MaxWays Special symbol increases that reel’s ways to the maximum.

The feature concludes when no respins remain or the reels are filled with Link&Win™ symbols. The feature is only available in the base game. Wilds cannot substitute for Link&Win™ symbols.

Free Spins

Free Spins are activated by landing 4, 5, or 6 Scatter symbols during a base game spin, awarding 10, 15, or 20 Free Spins, respectively. During Free Spins, every win increases a persistent multiplier by 1. A Dynamite symbol appearing on the Extra Reel triggers a Free Spins modifier, in the following order:

  • MULTIPLIER BOOST: Adds 5 to the current multiplier.
  • MORE WAYS: Raises the minimum number of ways to win.
  • DOUBLE MULTIPLIER: The multiplier increases by 2 instead of 1 after wins.
  • BISON WILD: Randomly changes a Low symbol on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 to Wilds for the remainder of Free Spins.

All Free Spins use the same bet as the spin that triggered them.
